Setting Up Webex Notifications

GitLab can be configured so that changes or actions in a project — such as updates to an issue — trigger a notification in a Webex Teams chat. This is also possible for Microsoft Teams; however, this guide will focus on setting up Webex.

Configuration Steps

  1. Enable incoming webhooks in Webex. Click on this link: Webex Webhooks

  2. Log in with your personal Webex account

  3. Click the green “Connect” button

Steps 2 and 3 are marked in the image.

  4. Log in to Webex using your official email address

    Webex login in the browser.

  5. Give the webhook a name

  6. Select the Webex room where the notifications should be posted

  7. Click the blue “Add” button

  8. Copy the webhook URL

Steps 5 to 8 are marked in the image.

  9. Open the Settings/Integrations section of your project in GitLab

  10. Configure Webex Teams

Steps 9 and 10 are marked in the image.

  11. Paste the webhook URL and define the trigger conditions

  12. Test and save the configuration

Steps 11 and 12 are marked in the image.

WARNING: Creating subtasks as child tasks of an issue will not trigger a notification.
